ROWER ON THE WEAR

This lovely scene was on one of my walks around a year ago. I was wandering along the River Wear in Durham when I spotted this rower gliding past the old mill buildings near Kingsgate Bridge. The autumn trees, the historic red brick buildings, and the calm water created the perfect composition.

I think it looks great painted in watercolour wash. The loose, flowing style captures the movement of the water and the atmosphere of that autumn day perfectly. Strong ink lines define the buildings and bridge, while soft washes bring the trees and reflections to life.
Painted using pencil, ink, and professional Windsor and Newton watercolour paints on 300gsm textured paper, this piece is an original signed J Blakely. No prints. No copies. Just real, hand-painted artwork. Each one slightly different as they are hand painted.
Perfect for anyone who loves Durham, rowing, the River Wear, or collecting contemporary landscape art. Available in A4 and A3, unframed and ready to frame and display.
