I’m John, a contemporary watercolour artist based in the North East of England. I specialise in original, hand-painted artwork created in a modern urban sketch style, capturing landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, and the character of real places.

My inspiration comes from the world around me — coastlines, streets, harbours, towns, and everyday scenes that most people pass without a second glance. I’m drawn to atmosphere, movement, and the unique personality each location holds, aiming to preserve those moments in paint.

Every piece I create is completely original and signed J Blakely. I don’t produce prints, digital copies, or reproductions — only one-of-a-kind watercolour paintings, each with its own story.
