From Photographer to Watercolour Artist

 

Hi, I’m John — and everything you see here is created by hand in my own watercolour ink‑and‑wash style. I love taking the looseness of traditional watercolour and giving it a clean, modern twist that fits beautifully into today’s homes. all signed by myself JBlakely

Before painting, I spent over 35 years as a professional photographer. That time taught me how to notice the little details, the mood, the atmosphere — the things that make an image feel alive. Now I bring that same eye for detail into every brushstroke.

Each piece is painted using Winsor & Newton watercolours on 300gsm cold‑press paper, giving every artwork its own texture, character and personality. Nothing mass‑produced, nothing automated — just original art, made with care.
